Best at mid tide. The castle headland provides shelter from northerly winds. Cayton Bay to the south is more exposed and gets bigger waves. Less consistent than the Northumberland coast but more accessible. Check the Whitby buoy for swell readings.

Getting There

Car parks along the seafront. Direct beach access from promenade.

Parking: Pay & display along North Bay. Cheaper parking further from beach.

Facilities: Toilets, Sea Life Centre, cafes. Scarborough town centre nearby.
